The topic Covid-19 is omnipresent and for many people at the same time very unsettling. Anyone who feels a cough or even a sore throat these days inevitably thinks of the corona virus. What to do?
The new coronavirus can show a wide variety of symptoms. These can be of varying severity.
The most common symptoms are (source: BAG):
- Symptoms of an acute respiratory disease (sore throat, cough (mostly dry), shortness of breath, chest pain)
- Sudden loss of sense of smell and/or taste
- general weakness, indisposition
- muscle aches
- gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain)
- skin rashes (e.g. pseudo-frostbites, urticarial, vesicular or morbilliform exanthema)
The joint clinic of Wedler, Sennhauser and Novak in Musterhausen* was sensitized to Covid-19 early on. Dr. med. Reginald Novak had been focusing his attention on the events in the Chinese city of Wuhan since December. This enabled him to continuously predict developments in Switzerland.
Although testing was only sporadic at the beginning of the year, Dr. Novak urged that capacities for SARS-CoV-2 testing be built up and the processes in the medical practice be optimized accordingly.
When the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) finally recommended that all persons with Covid-19 compatible symptoms should be tested, demand increased rapidly.
In addition, due to its location right next to the shopping center, the clinic conducted a large number of daily ambulant Covid-19 tests for people from the entire metropolitan area.
SMS instead of telephone call
The telephone communication of the test results was very time-consuming. Often the persons to be informed could not be reached, unanswered calls from the doctor's office were unsettling. Messages had to be left to answering machine. Callbacks had to be accepted ... in short: a very time-consuming back and forth was the result.
Conclusion: Contact by SMS is uncomplicated, reliable and binding.
When registering for the Corona Test, a new cell phone number and the consent of the persons to be tested to be contacted by SMS are obtained. If a negative test result is available, this is conveniently communicated via SMS from the practice software:
Your COVID smear is negative.
Kind regards and good health wishes
Your joint practice Wedler, Sennhauser and Novak
Today, the clinic saves a lot of time and money by sending negative test results by SMS instead of by telephone call.
